Businesswoman Amara Andrews filed the necessary papers to officially run for Cedar Rapids Mayor.
Andrews announced she would run for the position back in March.
On Monday in a news release her campaign announced she gathered 562 signatures, nearly twice the number needed for a candidate to be on the November ballot.
“It was important for our campaign to speak with voters in every single quadrant,” Andrews said in the release. “We took our time, knocked on hundreds of doors, and heard from thousands of Cedar Rapidians. Everyone we’ve spoken with indicated that they are ready for change.”
